Afeni Shakur Arrested on Drug Possesion Charges

by iSpit

The mother of slain rapper Tupac Shakur will appear in a Robeson County courtroom next month on charges related to an April 16 drug arrest.

Afeni Shakur Davis, 63, of 2630 E. 77 St. in Lumberton, faces one count each of felony possession of marijuana, simple possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance.

She is out of jail on a $10,000 bond and is expected to appear in court May 10, authorities said Tuesday.

Shakur was fatally shot Sept. 7, 1996, in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. The case has never been solved.

Davis, a former political activist and former member of the Black Panther Party, later founded the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation for students interested in performing arts. The foundation is funded by the profit from her son’s unreleased works.

F*ck Outta Here: Waka Waka Flocka & Fozzie Bear

by iSpit

waka-flocka-flame

From a recent interview with Complex:

Complex: Got it. You were involved a robbery recently where the alleged assailant took a picture that popped up on the Internet with him wearing your chain. Did that bother you?

Waka Flocka Flame: I don’t feel like they took it. Taking it is snatching that joint off my neck. They ain’t do that.

Complex: Do those types of videos and pictures seem silly to you?

Waka Flocka Flame: No, it don’t matter to me. I like it.

Complex: It doesn’t discourage you from rocking your chain?

Waka Flocka Flame: Hell nah. I just copped a new chain. You ever heard of Fozzie Bear from Muppet Babies, that says, “Waka waka waka waka”? I got that. That’s my new shit. Got a lil yellow Fuzzy with the yellow watch green, and shit.

I was just waiting for a picture to pop up. That is all.

Uncle Luke To VH1: “Go F*ck Yourself”

by iSpit

This year’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors is paying homage to the South. But not everyone is happy on how they’re being recognized. Uncle Luke tells VIBE he’s upset for not being honored for his entrepreneurial contributions.

“This year I’m supposed to be honored, but they only want to honor me as a member of the 2 Live Crew,” says Campbell, who also led Miami’s bass music scene for much of the ‘80s and early ‘90s. “They want to honor Master P for his business savvy and they want to honor Jermaine Dupri for his business savvy and I’m kind of offended by that. We have basically been talking it out, but it’s just so sad that people just don’t know my history. They try to link me with a group and not see me as a businessman. Luke Records was the first independent black owned record company owned by a rapper. We were the first to distribute our own product. There’s just so many first…the first to have an independent R&B group to go platinum with H-Town.

“For an organization like VH1 to try to say I’m just the first person to go to the Supreme Court over music censorship and be a part of the 2 Live Crew…I told them the other day, ‘Just go fuck yourself.’ We were even the first to have a street team. That wasn’t discovered by [Loud Records head] Steve Rifkind. I love Steve to death, but they keep giving him the credit. I don’t want to be a part of it unless you honor what I’ve done in a proper way. I’ve never asked anyone to do anything. But when you ask me to be a part of something, I’m not going to let you disrespect me.”

US To Launch Secret ’Space Warplane’

by iSpit

The United States Air Force has announced that it will launch a secret space plane that has sparked speculation about the militarization of space.

The Pentagon has set April 21 as the date for the launch of the robotic space plane known as the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV), which is a reusable unmanned plane capable of long outer space missions at low orbits.

Since the nature of the project is shrouded in mystery, defense analysts allege that the US military is building the first generation of US ’space Predator drones’ that will build up the United States’ space armada, the Christian Science Monitor wrote in a recent article.

Military experts argue that the US Department of Defense would not have saved NASA’s costly X-37B project, which had been scrapped, if it did not have a military application. (more…)

CIA Director tells Cap-to-Cap delegates: Cyber Attack Could Be Next “Pearl Harbor”

by iSpit

WASHINGTON D.C.—Central Intelligence Agency director Leon Panetta told 300 Sacramento Metro Chamber Cap-to-Cap delegates that the next “Pearl Harbor” is likely to be an attack on the United States’ power, financial, military and other Internet systems.

Panetta addressed the Sacramento delegation that includes 43 elected officials and hundreds of business and civic leaders who are in Washington D.C. for the annual program that advocates for the region’s most pressing policy issues. He spoke on Monday, April 19, during the Cap-to-Cap opening breakfast.

“Cyber terrorism” is a new area of concern for the CIA, Panetta said. The United States faces thousands of cyber attacks daily on its Internet networks. The attacks are originating in Russia, China, Iran and from even hackers. (more…)

Al-Qaeda Chief In Iraq: Captured, Killed, Never Actually Existed, Re-Captured, Now Killed Again

by iSpit

Al Qaeda Chief In Iraq: Captured, Killed, Never Actually Existed, Re Captured, Now Killed Again 190410feature

I cant make this sh*t up…

U.S. and Iraqi officials have today announced that two “Al-Qaeda in Iraq” leaders have been killed in an air strike carried out by American troops. A major flaw in the story that seems to have been overlooked, is that both of the men have already been reported captured and killed on several occasions, with U.S. officials also having previously declared one of them a “fictional character” that was invented by the other!

The Washington Post reports:

The deaths of Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, and Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, the head of an umbrella group that includes al-Qaeda in Iraq, should disrupt insurgent attacks inside the country, officials said. Their slayings could also provide Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki (pictured above) with a decisive political boost at a critical time.

“The death of these terrorists is potentially the most significant blow to al-Qaeda in Iraq since the beginning of the insurgency,” Gen. Ray Odierno, the top commander of U.S. troops in Iraq said in a statement. “There is still work to do but this is a significant step forward in ridding Iraq [of] terrorists.”

The two insurgent leaders were said to have been killed on Saturday in a night raid involving Iraqi and American forces.

Reuters reports:

United States military officials confirmed that Iraqi security forces had killed the two men. “The death of these two terrorists is a potentially devastating blow to Al Qaeda in Iraq,” the American command said in a statement.

He (the Iraqi prime minister) said the house was destroyed, and the two bodies were found in a hole in the ground where they had apparently been hiding.

Bizarrely, the Reuters piece quotes the Iraqi prime minister pinpointing the location of the raid as “a house in Thar-Thar, a rural area 50 miles west of Baghdad that is regarded as a hotbed of Qaeda activity”, however, the Washington Post report quotes U.S. officials saying the raid occurred “a few miles southwest of Tikrit”. If you look at a map of Iraq, those two descriptions do not entirely add up, unless you consider “a few miles” to be over 100. Certainly a more specific location could have been given. (more…)

Lupe Fiasco & Alicia Keys Song Confusion

by iSpit

We knew it was too good to be true. “Letter To The Beat” featuring Lupe Fiasco and Alicia Keys dripped onto the net. Unfortunately, the track isn’t authorized nor will it appear on Lu’s next album, Lasers. According to Alicia’s engineer Ann Mincieli, the song’s producer Chad Hugo secretly passed off AK’s Pro Tool sessions and vocals. Apparently, the recordings were leftovers from 2007. As retribution, Ann posted Neptunes drum kits to download via her Twitter account. You’re all welcomed? Smh
