Real Jobs, Fake Jobs: The Unemployment Myth

by iSpit

In many ways, the unemployment numbers are much worse than they appear. One factor has been the timing of the US census. The bureau hired some 700,000 workers to collect data, people who otherwise were having a very difficult time navigating the choppy labor markets. They went for the jobs because they were a sure thing, paid decently, and didn’t require unusual skills (anyone can knock on a door and pester people about their private lives).

That inflated the jobs number for a while. But now these jobs are at an end — a highly unusual event in government employment, which usually lasts a lifetime. Now all of these people are facing the bracing reality of looking for employment in an economy wrecked by the government.

The press has been posting tributes to these people and their jobs and wailing about their fate now that their jobs are vanishing. And that raises questions. If these jobs were so great, why should they be eliminated at all? Surely, there is a way that these people could be transitioned to some other kind of government-funded service? That way, one might reason, people would have jobs, work would get done, and everyone would be better off.

Will Smith Set To Rule Egypt As ‘The Last Pharaoh’ Taharqa

by iSpit

Will Smith will take on the role of the pharaoh Taharqa for Columbia’s “The Last Pharaoh” – which will be written by Randall Wallace (“Braveheart”). Taharqa was the pharaoh who fought against Assyrian invaders in ancient Egypt.

Variety reports that Smith will also produce the film with James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz for Overbrook  Entertainment. The film has reportedly been a dream project for Smith, and the actor took the story to Wallace.

The film will follow Taharqa’s war with Assyrian leader Esarhaddon in 677 B.C.

Terahertz Scanners May Detect What Whole-Body Scanners Miss

by iSpit

A typical full-body scanner works by bouncing X-rays off an individual’s skin to produce an outline image of the person’s body; these images must then be studied by an operator who makes the call whether there is a potential explosive present or not; the operator’s subjective view makes the system more fallible; terahertz technology works by sweeping a terahertz beam across a person and then using sensors to detect the radiation that reflects back; explosives and benign substances such as candy have a different terahertz spectrum, or fingerprint, that can be classified by TeraView software

The government’s decision to raise the U.K. threat level to severe this weekend has once again raised concerns about the risk terrorists pose to air travel. TheEngineer reports that some explosive screening technology developers believe full-body image scanners — currently proposed by the government for deployment across all U.K. airports — will not effectively detect all threats.

Don Arnone, chief executive of Cambridge-based TeraView, said his company is currently working on a scanning technology that uses Terahertz light to detect different types of plastic explosives through clothing, including PETN, the explosive that a foiled Nigerian bomber carried on Christmas Day. Amone says that terahertz light is more effective than full-body scanners at finding certain explosives because the latter technology is not particularly good at imaging density variations.

Solar Plane Completes First Night Flight

by iSpit

In a major triumph for alternative-energy researchers and enthusiasts, an experimental, solar-powered plane on Thursday successfully completed a 26-hour flight powered by 12,000 solar cells and sunlight-powered lithium batteries.

The Solar Impulse, a slender, long-winged airplane, flew through the night over Switzerland, fueled by energy it had collected during the previous day. Solar Impulse reached a height of 28,000 feet and a top speed of 78 mph in what project coordinators called the longest test flight of a piloted solar-powered aircraft.

“We don’t need to prolong the flight,” a project team member tweeted Thursday morning. “Everything we wanted to prove with this flight has been proven … and more.”

The solar plane project was launched at the end of 2003 under the guidance of Bertrand Piccard, the first person to complete a nonstop balloon flight around the world.

Larry Hoover Jr. And “Others” Were Looking For Rick Ross (William Leonard Roberts) In Chicago

by iSpit

+ =

????

(Note:Its also notable that while Rick Ross IS paying MC Hammer to use his likeness for the song MC Hammer…he is  NOT paying Ricky Ross for using the name…Rick Ross)

Rappers say a lot of things.  And sometimes a lyric can spark outrage, controversy, and more.  Such was the case recently when Rick Ross imagined himself to be “Big Meech” and “Larry Hoover” in “Blowing Money Fast” a new single from his newly released album, Teflon Don.  While many listeners may see it as purely a good line, or another example of Hip Hop’s fascination with gangster culture, others took the comments to heart in a way that few could understand.  While Big Meech and Larry Hoover exist in name only to the majority of Hip Hop consumers, the two figures are friends, fathers, associates, and leaders to select groups of people and for them, Ross’ words had a direct impact.

Rick Ross’ reference to Larry Hoover took on a new life when Ross visited the windy city last week.  For those unfamiliar, Chicago is the home of Larry Hoover, who has been serving jail time since 1973 and is currently serving his sentence in Colorado. While Ross has said that his mention of Hoover was a tribute to someone he views as a political prisoner, his reference to Hoover alongside other references to drugs, and violence did more to hurt Ross than help him.  Larry Hoover Jr. and others sought out Ross during his stay in the city to talk about to him about the line, as well as explain why such a reference is an unwanted one.  Following Ross’ visit, Larry Hoover Jr., Jim Allen, and Gator Bradley all spoke to RubyHornet to explain their problems with the reference.

Fight That Ticket: Traffic Cameras Worldwide Go Haywire

by iSpit

Speed cameras and red light cameras in the US and Australia accused innocent motorists of wrongdoing.

Speed cameras in California, Florida and Australia are not living up to their image of providing infallible evidence of traffic crimes. To the contrary, officials must find clever excuses to cover for the mistakes that are uncovered with increasing frequency.

In Hallandale, Florida, the private firm American Traffic Solutions mailed a $125 ticket to Phil Kodroff accusing his car of “running a red light” at the intersection of Federal Highway and Hallandale Beach Boulevard on May 22. The Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel reported that Kodroff’s vehicle committed this crime at the speed of 0 MPH.

To explain the lack of speed noted on Kodroff’s ticket, Hallandale Beach police spokesman Dwayne Flournoy told the Sun Sentinel, “Zero doesn’t mean zero.”

A motorist in Capitola, California received a red light camera ticket after his car stopped and made a legal turn from 41st Avenue onto Clares Street, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported. Police once again struggled to come up with an explanation.

“It may have not been the person involved that tripped the light,” Capitola Police Sergeant Matt Eller told the Sentinel.

In San Diego, red light cameras are randomly flashing motorists who have done nothing wrong, generating up to thirty complaint calls every day. Local police told KGTV-TV that the flashing happens when the red light camera reboots.

A Queensland, Australia electronic engineering teacher is fighting an A$200 speed camera ticket he says is clearly bogus. The Gold Coast News reported that Philip Williams’ motorcycle photographed in Robina last November at 79 km/h (49 MPH) in a 60 (37 MPH) zone. Williams argued that even the radar device’s manufacturer, Gatsometer, said the device should not be used on a curve. Moreover, other vehicles are visible in the citation photograph, and radar is unable to determine which vehicle produced the speed reading (the citation shows a Gatso radar, not a lidar device).

Group Calls for Hearings Into Google’s Ties to CIA and NSA

by iSpit

More information has emerged about Google’s relationship with the government and spook agencies (see PR Newswire below). The revelations should come as no surprise.

In 2006, Robert David Steele, a 20-year Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer and a former clandestine services case officer with the CIA, told the Alex Jones Show that the CIA helped bankroll Google at its inception. “I think Google took money from the CIA when it was poor and it was starting up and unfortunately our system right now floods money into spying and other illegal and largely unethical activities, and it doesn’t fund what I call the open source world,” said Steele, citing “trusted individuals” as his sources.

Google is a key intelligence asset. It has supplied the core search technology for Intellipedia, a highly-secured online CIA system and has shared a close relationship with both the CIA, NSA, and government national security officials.

Is Military Spending Saving or Enslaving?

by iSpit

The latest announcement that the Pentagon’s military research division, DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), has created shape-shifting robots sounds like another Terminator sequel, but this is mainstream news.  Sure, this is still theoretical, as these robots are just half a millimeter thick, but it portends a future where, “it will be used to create full-sized cars and aircraft that morph as they move, or robots that can ‘flow’ like mercury into small openings, or multipurpose military uniforms that can adapt to different environments.”  There is no discussion in the article about the benefits to mankind, only the military applications.

Whether or not the categories listed below were conceived of by individuals who had a desire to contribute to Humanity’s progress, the fact remains that  between 45%-90% of American taxpayer money now goes to military spending.  The U.S. has set the stage, but many other governments certainly have received their marching orders.  The relationship between the foreign battlefield and civilian life at home can be traced back to the advent of world wars, as private research and development was often subsumed into the military mission.  In our modern era of perpetual war on nebulous terror, it might be worthwhile to ask:  Is our support of military spending helping humanity or enslaving us?

Massive Statue Of Egyptian Pharaoh Taharqa Found Deep Inside Sudan

by iSpit

Download Video or MP3 -Iamnotarapperispit.com

Archaeologists have found a massive one ton granite statue of the Egyptian pharaoh Taharqa has been found in Dangeil, deep inside Sudan.

Taharqa was a pharaoh of the 25th dynasty of Egypt. This was a period of Kushite rule, which means that Taharqa and his fellow rulers were from Nubia and drew their power-base from there.

According to a report in the Heritage Key, the site where the statue of the pharaoh was discovered is located approximately 350 km northeast of the modern Sudanese capital of Khartoum – in the general vicinity of the fifth Nile cataract.

In addition to Taharqa, archaeologists have found statues of two other Napatan kings at the site – Senkamanisken and Aspelta, neither of whom controlled Egypt.

The announcement of the discovery was made on the blog of Dr. Caroline Rocheleau of the Royal Ontario Museum North Carolina Museum of Art.

In her blog Dr Rocheleau describes the Taharqa statue as, “more than life-size and weighs over one ton.”

The Taharqa and Senkamanisken statues have “great muscular bodies with an inscribed back pillar… and lovely feet on the statue base, but we are missing their heads and their lower legs.”

The Legend Of Mark James Robert Essex

by iSpit

Mark James Robert Essex (1949 – January 7, 1973) killed 10 people and wounded 13 others in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, on January 7, 1973.

Background

Mark James Robert Essex was born in Emporia, Kansas. His friends remembered him as a quiet, happy person, who had talked about becoming a minister. Essex joined the United States Navy, where he was allegedly subjected to racism from white people. He was given a general discharge for unsuitability on 10 February 1971, for “character and behavior disorders.” After his discharge, he became involved with black radicals in San Francisco, California and later joined the New York Black Panthers.

New Year’s Eve, 1972

At the age of 23 and living in New Orleans, Essex began targeting police officers. On New Year’s Eve 1972 Essex parked his car and went down Perdido Street, a block from the New Orleans Police Department. He hid in a parking lot across from the busy central lockup and used a .44 Magnum to kill Cadet Alfred Harrell. Lt. Horace Perez was also wounded in the attack. Interestingly, Harrell was black, although Essex said he was going to kill “just honkies” before beginning his murderous attacks. Essex evaded being taken into custody, and later returned, killing Officer Edwin Hosli Sr.
