Art Believed Destroyed By Nazis Found In Berlin

by iSpit

Nearly a dozen sculptures considered by the Nazis to be “degenerate” artwork and believed to have been lost or destroyed after World War II have been unearthed during construction near Berlin’s city hall and were shown to reporters Monday.

The terra-cotta and bronze statues were found during a dig to lay down a new subway line. They belonged to a collection of 15,000 works condemned by Hitler’s regime for containing “deviant” sexual elements, anti-nationalistic themes or criticizing Nazi ideology.

The sculptures mainly depict women — a woman holding grapes, a mother and her child, a full-figured woman stretching — the other three are of males.

Ten of the pieces will go on display Tuesday in Berlin’s Neues Museum. One, a male terra-cotta head, is too fragile for display.

Construction workers found the art on the site of an office building that burned down in the summer of 1944, Museum Director Matthias Wemhoff told reporters Monday. The fire started in the roof, burning the building from the top down.

Quincy Jones:”I Am Not A Rapper!!” (Was He Talking About Us or Kanye??)

by iSpit

We couldnt agree more  Quincy, if for no other reason than the simple fact that if you were a rapper you would’ve jumped at an opportunity to be in beef with another rapper instead of squashing it immediately.

Quincy Jones..

…Not a Rapper

…Applaud this man

IAmNotARapper salute!

US Magazine’s Ian Drew talked to Quincy Jones about his new album and about the younger singers and rappers he respects. The reporter compared him to Kanye West, and Jones responded how most 77-year-olds who produced Thriller and worked with Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, etc. would:

Us: Kanye West is similar to you in that he’s the producer everybody wants to work with in the last decade …

QJ: How man? No way. Did he write for a symphony orchestra? Does he write for a jazz orchestra? Come on, man. He’s just a rapper. There’s no comparison. I’m not putting him down or making a judgement or anything, but we come from two different sides of the planet. I spent 28 years learning my first skill. I don’t rap. It’s not the same thing. A producer has to have some sort of skills that enable him to be a producer. It’s totally different to know what to do with 16 woodwinds you know from piccolos down to bass clarinet. It’s a whole different mindset. No comparison. None.

Later he says, “I don’t think about [West] much. He’s a great rapper, but there are a lot of good… (more…)

Q&A: DJ Premier on Where Rap Went Wrong and How to Fix It

by iSpit

If New York hip-hop has a spiritual gatekeeper, it’s DJ Premier. Along with being part of definitive ’90s rap duo Gang Starr, Premier has balanced crafting songs for certified rap royalty Jay-Z, Biggie, and Nas with supporting the city’s more varied and underground scenes. His upcoming label compilation, Year Round Records: Get Used To Us, sticks to that credo, showcasing life-time Big Apple rhymers Freddie Foxxx, Blaq Poet, and KRS-One alongside more recent home town talent like Papoose, Saigon, and Joell Ortiz–three artists looking to re-ignite their careers after floundering on major labels. Here’s Premier’s take on where New York rap went wrong, why it needs to be destroyed in order to recover, and how he’s warming to his role as elder rap statesman, to the point where he’s creating old school mixtapes to educate upcoming rap cats.

On your new label compilation you feature songs with Papoose and Saigon. A few years back both of them were tipped as future superstars capable of re-asserting New York’s rap credentials, but their careers quickly faded. Why do you think that was?

Papoose had a million dollar deal at Jive but I knew Jive wasn’t going to let him drop all the street shit he was doing. They’re not the same Jive that had Whodini and A Tribe Called Quest and KRS-One and the Fu-Schnickens and all that. Even though they had R. Kelly and Britney Spears and N-Sync, the Jive of old was very eclectic and rooted in what we love about music. They’re not that any more. So when you have a Papoose, he can do some commercial records, but that’s not what he is and that’s not what he does to make you wanna hear more stuff from him. You can’t all of a sudden convert him into a commercial artist. They’re going to force him to make those commercial songs and when they don’t work they’re gonna drop him.

Guest Blog:When Did The Word “Nigger” Become Trendy…Deep Thoughts Via A Flash Blog By Eric Blair

by Mr. Blair

Download Video or MP3 -Iamnotarapperispit.com

Nigger

  1. A member of any dark-skinned people.
  2. Extremely disparaging and offensive; a Black person, a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible inferior, ignorant, etc.
  3. A victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by Blacks; a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised.
  4. A derogatory name for a Black person.

Why do so many people use the word nigger?  When did it become cool for other races to use the word, nigger?  Is there an old Jewish White man in Hollywood sending out e-mails to every other race telling them, “Hey, being Black is cool, but if you really want to be down use this cool new word, nigga. Then you’ll be with the in crowd, my nigga.”  Is it that us, Black people, say it so much that other races think: “Fuck it, they know what they are and it sounds cool, so let’s try it out.”

Men Are Not Hardwired For Infidelity: Why Does Pop Culture Insist on Biological Differences Between the Sexes?

by iSpit

Type “men” and “hardwired” into Google and you tap into a wonderfully absurd catalog of assertions about male behavior. Men are “hardwired” to cheat, ignore their wives, suspect infidelity, overspend, fail, love money, pursue women and achieve supremacy in the workplace. Meanwhile, women are “hardwired” to worry about their weight and dump cheaters. All include the magic phrase “scientific studies show”. It’s a snapshot of how science is being used and abused to legitimize gender stereotypes. It would be laughable if it didn’t signify how a form of biological determinism — the claim that differences between men and women have a basis in innate biological characteristics — has re-emerged and acquired an astonishing popular currency.

This fascination in differences between the sexes is a staple of the self-help industry. John Gray’s thesis about planetary confusion (Men Are From Mars and Women are From Venus) has spawned nearly two decades of publishing with guides on everything from communication to food, and all still enjoy warm Amazon reviews and healthy sales.

Apple Seeks Monopoly Through Court Action Against Motorola

by iSpit

Late Friday Apple filed a pair of lawsuits against Motorola, claiming its Android phones violate six important patents, demanding the products be pulled from the shelves, their profits be given to Apple, and that treble damages and attorney fees be awarded.

If the courts agree such a result would destroy Motorola.

This followed by two weeks Motorola’s filing of countersuits against Apple, demanding its patents be invalidated.

All of which means that the very concept of competition within the smart phone marketplace is now before the courts.

Not all the patents being asserted are software patents. One of Apple’s cases relates directly to its multi-touch hardware, and how it tracks movements.

Seven Sacred Keys to Health, Wealth and Wisdom By Rahotep

by iSpit

As I projected my ka (Astral double) through the door in the sky (star gate) I was met by Seshat – Wife and consort of Thoth. “Rahotep, find yourself in the magick and find the magick in yourself” Seshat told me.

The Deities of ancient Egypt are as alive and relative in our life today as in ancient Egypt thousands of years ago.

Seshat
Find yourself in the magick and find the magick in yourself” – Seshat

This was the 1st key that was given me by the Neteret Seshat (the ancient Egyptian goddess that grants us perfect foundations built upon Divine wisdom).

How many of us are striving to be someone  else? Or imitate someone else’s success?

Yet the key to success and happiness lies in developing our own uniqueness and special gifts. These magical gifts are to be found inside of each and every one of us in quiet meditation. Ask yourself this question right now: ‘What is the magic that is uniquely me?’.

Maybe your talent is cooking, financial planning, caring for the elderly. Whatever it is put a unique slant on it to make it your unique self.

“There is only one unique “you”, why would you want to e someone else? The choice between a masterpiece and a replica is obvious”

Web Censorship Bill Sails Through Senate Committee

by iSpit

Who says Congress never gets anything done?

On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill that would give the Attorney General the right to shut down websites with a court order if copyright infringement is deemed “central to the activity” of the site — regardless if the website has actually committed a crime. The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) is among the most draconian laws ever considered to combat digital piracy, and contains what some have called the “nuclear option,” which would essentially allow the Attorney General to turn suspected websites “off.”

COICA is the latest effort by Hollywood, the recording industry and the big media companies to stem the tidal wave of internet file sharing that has upended those industries and, they claim, cost them tens of billions of dollars over the last decade.

The content companies have tried suing college students. They’ve tried suing internet startups. Now they want the federal government to act as their private security agents, policing the internet for suspected pirates before making them walk the digital plank.
