Facebook has revealed that a data broker has been buying identifying Facebook user information from app developers, and as a result the social-networking powerhouse has placed some developers on a six-month suspension.
The announcement, which Facebook made Friday afternoon on its developer blog, comes on the heels of the revelation that many popular Facebook apps were transmitting user IDs–which can be used to look up a users’ names and, in some cases, the names of the app user’s friends–to at least 25 advertising and data firms.
Facebook did not identify the data broker that was purchasing user information but did say it had reached an agreement with Rapleaf, a San Francisco-based data aggregation company that was previously identified as receiving some user information. Facebook said that Rapleaf has agreed to delete all user ID information in its possession and agreed not to conduct any further activities on the social network. The blog post did not indicate whether Rapleaf was the broker involved in the sale of user information, and Rapleaf representatives did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

The track starts with a soulful “well, well” as a hip-hop beat rises in intensity. “Do you want another rap?” the same deep voice then says in perfect time. “You want another rap?”
But this is no ordinary rapper. This is, believe it or not, 66-year-old Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, previously better known for rebellion than for rhyming.
The road to what has now become a radio and club hit started a few months back at a ruling party rally when the leader of almost 25 years took to the stage and, professing that some youngsters had told him about rap, performed two folk chants from his birthplace in Western Uganda – Naatema akati (I cut a stick) and Mp’enkoni (Give me the stick).
Don Cannon is a heavy weight in the music industry. Few DJ’s work as hard as he has to stay current in the streets. From working with underground artist like GhostWridah, to working on Trap or Die II with a veteran like Young Jeezy. Cannon has covered all aspects of the music industry except writing the verses himself! We caught up with him at the Big Sean in-store event at the Atlanta New Era Flagship store. Morning
Woke up from a strange dream; I think it was about Toy Story. I got ready for work and rode the train with my friend, Ms. Shippe. I realized I was early for work so I walked Ms. Shippe to her job. I had a nice morning walk to work, listened to Kanye West’s “Dark Fantasy,” “Can we get much higher? Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.” Good song, check it out, I’ve digressed. Got a pretzel and saw my neighbor we work in the same building. Talked to a co-worker, and then went to my desk to start writing. Of course, everyone wanted to say “good morning.” I wanted to ask them, “Do you see my face? Does it look like I want to talk?” If they only knew I am the most homicidal in the morning. I almost called out like
Sugary, high-alcohol energy drinks that are popular with college students who want to get drunk quickly and cheaply came under renewed scrutiny Monday as investigators announced that nine freshmen had been hospitalized after drinking them at an off-campus party.
Several states are considering outlawing the drinks and at least two universities have banned them from campus while the Food and Drug Administration reviews their safety.
Washington state Attorney General Rob McKenna called for the drinks to be banned and sent a letter to the FDA on Monday, saying the drinks “present a serious threat to public health and safety.”
The issue received new attention after the Oct. 8 party in Roslyn, a picturesque mountain town known as the place where part of the 1990s television series “Northern Exposure” was filmed.
Police first responded to a report of an unconscious female in a grocery store parking lot and learned about the party from her friends. At the home, officers found a chaotic scene, with students from nearby Central Washington University passed out and so intoxicated that investigators thought they had overdosed on drugs.
