YouTube has unveiled a merch store that will allow artists to sell their merch directly from their YouTube artist pages. Fans will be able to buy “artists‘ merchandise, digital downloads, concert tickets and even unique experiences like meetups,” according to Sunday blog post at the YouTube blog.
The offerings are made possible by a handful of partnerships: direct-to-fan provider Topspin will allow artists to sell merchandise, concert tickets and experiences; Songkick will provide concert listings; and iTunes and Amazon will provide music downloads. The Merch Store will roll out to artists over the next few weeks.
Will fans warm to the idea of purchasing items from a YouTube page, a place best known for free entertainment? We will find out, although artists should expect to go through a learning phase to understand how direct-to-fan sales best works at this new venue. In any case, the partnership with YouTube is a big win for Topspin and gives artists a storefront on the world’s most popular streaming site.
I havent heard from Quan since this, (& my favorite of course being this) but this new song is cool. Behind the scenes below…

There are almost as many laughs in “6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park” as there are in an actual episode of “South Park.”
This documentary, Sunday night on Comedy Central, looks at how episodes of that long-running show are put together. Watching Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show’s creators, toss around ideas with the other writers is pretty funny. Is it too soon for Japanese tsunami jokes? Is there a story line to be created involving N.C.A.A. scandals and crack babies? What consequences might befall Cartman if he doesn’t read that must-agree-to agreement when he downloads an iTunes update?
The funniest moment of all, though, doesn’t take place in the writers’ room. It comes when we see Anne Garefino, the show’s executive producer, on the phone to the Standards and Practices people, describing a particularly vulgar scene in a parody of the “Human Centipede” films. Nothing in her description can be repeated here, but it’s pretty amusing watching her say it with a straight face. And then she ends the call with: “Thanks. Happy Easter to you too.”
Life is a theater so invite your audience carefully.
Not everyone is holy and healthy enough to have a Front Row seat in our
lives.
There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance.
It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize
your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere
relationships, friendships, fellowships and family!
Everyone can’t be in Your Front Row.
Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention to: Which ones lift and
which ones lean?
Which ones encourage and which ones discourage?
Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are just going
downhill?
When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse?
Which ones always have drama or don’t really understand, know and
appreciate you and the gift that lies within you?
Everyone can’t be in Your Front Row.
The more you seek truth and the things of truth, the more you seek quality, the
more you seek not just the hand of truth but the face of truth, the more you
seek things honorable, the more you seek growth, peace of mind, love and
truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to
sit in the FRONT ROW and who should be moved to the balcony of your life.
Everyone can’t be in Your Front Row.
You cannot change the people around you…but you can change the people you
are around!
Ask for wisdom and discernment and choose wisely the people who sit in
the FRONT ROW of your life.
Remember that FRONT ROW seats are for special and deserving people and
those who sit in your FRONT ROW should be chose carefully.
Everyone can’t be in Your FRONT ROW.

Merlin, the independent label master rights licensing agency that refers to itself as the fifth major, has reached a global licensing deal with YouTube.
Terms of the deal were not released, but the deal points have been published to its members, which have to opt in to be included under the agreement.
Merlin members include Merge Records, Warp Records, Epitaph, Naïve, Tommy Boy, One Little Indian, Yep Roc/Red Eye, Kontor New Media, Beggars Group, Sub-Pop, !K7, PIAS, Domino and Koch/E1.
The agreement calls for Merlin’s member labels to be paid out whenever their official videos or user-generated videos featuring their repertoire are played via the YouTube service, which pays royalties out of revenue generated by selling advertising.
“It is an all encompassing deal allowing labels to create their own channels,” Merlin CEO Charles Caldas told Billboard.biz. Caldas noted that YouTube is an important destination for music fans providing many promotional tools for record labels. He adds the agreement, also allows its member labels to build a premium monetization model at Youtube.
In a statement, Chris Maxcy, Head of Global Music Partnerships at YouTube, said “We’re continually looking for new ways to connect independent artists with their fans and we’re thrilled to have struck a deal with Merlin that will help us do just that, while compensating them for their efforts at the same time.”
Caldas says the independent label sector “is more important to the success of services like YouTube than the four majors because their member’s repertoire provides the final chunk of content that drives the value equation.”
Billboard estimates independently-owned repertoire in the U.S. at about 31.9% through the first nine months of this year, while Merlin estimates its members’ market share at about 10%, or nearly one-third the sector’s overall market share. Moreover, in some European countries, Merlin’s market share is much larger Caldas says.
AT&T apparently has God on its side for the coming regulatory investigation surrounding its merger deal with T-MobileUSA.
A faith-based service provider said the Louisiana Rescue Mission supported the merger between T-Mobile and AT&T, according to a report by The Nonprofit Quarterly. The site explains:
The faith-based service provider offered what it acknowledged was “an out-of-place endorsement” of the AT&T merger with T-Mobile, with Rev. R. Henry Martin explaining that “People often call on God to help the outcasts and downtrodden that walk among us, [but] [s]ometimes, however, it is our responsibility to take matters into our own hands. Please support this merger.”
AT&T subsequently donated $50,000 to the Louisiana rescue mission, according to The Nonprofit Quarterly. AT&T has also donated to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), which also said it supported the merger. It pulled support for the merger earlier this year.
The $39 billion deal, which would make AT&T the largest wireless provider in the United States by a wide margin, is still subject to regulatory approval by the Federal Communications Commission.
It’s not always sunny in Philadelphia: An apocalyptic storm is bearing down on the City of Brotherly Love, and everyone’s in panic mode—except for Frank.
BTW: Since there was no “Community” tonight… here is the substitute. Top episode is 6 and it goes backwards to episode 1… You’re welcome
