Homer Simpson Named Greatest TV Character

by iSpit

Homer Simpson, beat out a wizard, a vampire slayer, and mob boss to be named the greatest character on television and film in the last 20 years by Entertainment Weekly.

The loveable, mistake-prone, donut-loving dad from the popular cartoon series The Simpson took the #1 spot in the magazine’s survey of the top 100 characters. The magazine released the final list on Monday to mark their 20th anniversary.

Simpson’s creator Matt Groening spoke to the magazine on Homer’s behalf.

“People can relate to Homer because we’re all secretly propelled by desires we can’t admit to,” Groening told Entertainment Weekly.

“Homer is launching himself head-first into every single impulsive thought that occurs to him. His love of whatever… is a joy to witness.”

The rest of the Top 5 included, Harry Potter (2nd), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (3rd), Mob boss Tony Soprano (4th) and the Joker played by the late actor Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight (5th).

The bottom half of the Top 10 featured Rachel from Friends, Edward Scissorhands, Hannibal Lecter, Carrie Bradshaw from the popular Sex and the City franchise, and cartoon star Spongebob Squarepants.

Raekwon spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the fans’ reception of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, the new album with Meth and Ghost as well as his next solo album, Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang. Some highlights:

How did you decide to make an album with those two guys specifically?
It was something that was going to happen sooner or later. Us three, we always work good together throughout the years. On a lot of records, me, Ghost, and Meth was always next to each other. If you look at [the Wu-Tang Clan] as being the Lakers, we are the MVPs of the team. We are the ones that everybody may feel like takes us to the championship. Everybody else is going to play their position, but these three are definitely going to have to control the ball at some point. This is what the fans been wanting, man…You know, I work for the fans.

From your perspective, what do you three bring to a project? How do you balance each other out?
When we get together, it’s a lot of energy in the building, because everybody knows Meth, Rae, and Ghost for being super-lyrical, but still got that great character inside their rhymes. I guess that’s why people really is excited about this record. They’re saying, “Yo, these dudes put the Wu where they need to be at.” I don’t look at it like that. I look at us all as being one, still. I understand some may have a little bit more special gift than others, but it’s still a team effort. I love to get on tracks with brothers like Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, the GZA. The whole crew is golden, man. When you think of us, you gotta say, “Yo, these are the Jacksons of hip-hop.” But for me to get in a room with Meth and Ghost and do an album, it’s serious to me. I know it’s going to be a lot of lyrics in there, it’s going to be a lot of great energy, stories. We all master these different departments of rhyming. So you’re just going to get a great album.

Kanye West Responds To Album Of The Decade Honor

by iSpit

“WOW… THIS IS REALLY FLATTERING… I’VE HAD SOME UPS AND DOWNS THIS YEAR, WELL ACTUALLY THIS DECADE. JUST SEEING THIS COVER TAKES ME BACK TO THAT TIME OF MY LIFE. I REMEMBER HOW MUCH PAIN AND LOVE WENT INTO THIS ALBUM. NO ONE SAW IT COMING. THIS PROJECT WASN’T ABOUT ME, IT WAS ABOUT A TIME IN PEOPLES LIVES WHERE PEOPLE FORCE OPINIONS ON YOU AND YOU HAVE TO MAKE CHOICES FOR YOURSELF. WE LOVED 50 CENT BUT WE WANTED TO BE THE YANG. WE WANTED TO WEAR PINK POLOS AND RAP ABOUT BEING HURT INSTEAD BEING INVINCIBLE. THERE WAS A CORE GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO WORKED ON THIS ALBUM EVERYDAY…. PLAIN PAT, JOHN MONOPOLY, DON CRAWLEY, ANTHONY KILHOFFER, MANNY MARROQUIN, JOHN LEGEND, DEVON HARRIS, RYHMEFEST, GEE ROBERSON, HIP HOP, AL BRANCH, DAMON DASH, GABE TESORIERO, CRAIG BAUER, GLC, OL’ SCHOOL ICE GREE, CONSEQUENCE, B NICE AND MY MOM. I WAS MOST INSPIRED BY THE MISEDUCATION OF LAURYN HILL AND I LISTENED TO THAT ALBUM EVERYDAY WHILE WORKING ON MY DEBUT. THANK YOU FOR THIS ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND ALSO FOR PUTTING “THE BLUEPRINT” ON THE LIST ALSO. I LOVED “THE LOVE BELOW’ AND “GET RICH OR DIE TRYING” ALSO. THEY BOTH EQUALLY DESERVED THE NUMBER ONE SPOT IN MY EYES BUT THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE NUMBER ONE!!!”

Jay-Z’s Blueprint (2001) was # 2…..
