Mr. Blair Presents: First Monday – Artwork by Steve Notich

Hey you guys!  This week isn’t about my work; don’t close the window just yet. On the first Friday of the month art galleries display local artwork, I decided to do the same thing, but on Monday. Welcome to “First Monday.” I’d like to introduce Steve Notich. He’s an artist, and a good friend of mine.  Some of Steve’s recent work is displayed throughout this piece.  Steve’s work reminds me of Vincent van Gogh, his artwork has evolved. He use to take several hours to days finishing one piece; I sat through a portrait that took five days to complete. Steve has challenged himself to complete work faster and more efficiently. He says, “I’ve always liked my own work at some point in the middle, with an incomplete look to it.  This is what provoked my interest in working portraits in a manner where I give myself a limited time frame.  I prefer the loose mark-making and scratches that comes when forced to work fast over the fussiness that comes with a limited time frame.” Steve is a very good man and great artist, he’s passionate about his work and detailed about everything he does. He’s a real artist who the paints, charcoals, does graffiti and loves art simply for the sake of sharing beauty with the world.  (more…)
