F*ck Outta Here: A Review About Nothing By: Eric Blair

by Mr. Blair

File:Wale-Ambition-Cover.jpg

Disclaimer: Apologies to @Wale for my views and opinions regarding his new album #Ambition. The following views and opinions are all based on fact therefore this is a Review About the Truth.

Who is this man? I don’t know Wale as an artist anymore. This album reminds me of the scenario when your big brother, whom you’re so proud of, goes away to college and the next summer he returns home as a douche bag. Wale has changed drastically for the worst since he joined Maybach Music Group. This is an atrocious follow-up to Attention Deficit and More About Nothing. The lyrical content on this album is very crude and moronic; I had never heard this man use the word “bitch” this much in his exHip-Hop career. Now he has graduated to be a mainstream rapper, or his self-proclaimed title “Maybach Poet.” His voice and flow has changed from exciting to lackluster. The lyrical delivery on this album sounds like a “Rick Ross lite” flow; even the production sounds like a second-hand Rick Ross production. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few tracks on this album where the production is good but that’s only the production. Songs like: Focus, Slight Work, Chain Music, and maybe Lotus Flower Bomb are solid enough. Example: Chain Music is very catchy and if this was a quality album Chain Music would have been the worst song on the track list but since this is a bad album Chain Music ALMOST a good song, in comparison to the others.  I do not enjoy hearing the Maybach Music Group sound stamp all over this album. “YES! We have heard of Maybach Music before! Shut up, I don’t care for hearing about this group once more!” I do not understand Wale as an artist or this album; how could he go from a song called Dairy to a track titled Illest Bitch? Is it me or is there an oxymoron sound accompanying Wale these days? A career is about growth not back tracking, this isn’t monopoly, its chess.  Overall I rate this album a D. It lacks creativity, growth, solid production, and the interesting lyricism that Wale’s fans are used to.  Overall, Ambition contradicts Wale’s sound before this album. I am highly disappointed in him as an artist, I expected so much more from him. I’ve wasted thirty plus minutes on this misuse of sounds called Ambition. I do not know where he can go from here but what I do know is I will not be listening to him anytime soon. This album and his name make my ears sad. Damn Illuminati can make anyone sell out these days. Those Illuminatists are great at their jobs because they have done a great job turning out an artist who could have been a great MC.

You don’t have to take my words for it; give Wale’s Ambition a listen for yourself. Be your own critic.

Enjoy!

POST NUMBER 5000 – A BENCHMARK IN TIME…OR WHATEVER

by iSpit

This Jimi Hendrix poster was made from 5000 guitar picks

Hotep

I don’t even know where to begin; I guess I’ll start by stating this: I’m not really into awards and accolades, only because I feel that the work I have put in validates itself. While much appreciated, from my perspective there isn’t a need for outside kudos. (Though, I do enjoy all of your tweets, facebook messages, texts & emails)

Anywho, I’m told that this is a benchmark in time that I should wholeheartedly acknowledge and be proud of so…Here we are. 5000 in (& counting). A lot of websites don’t make it to 5000 posts. So I am thankful we’ve mad it thus far… Honestly, I’m just happy to be here… I know that sounds cliche and unlike me, but that’s the simple way of putting it. More than that, I’m glad that people are still reading and educating themselves while enjoying good music without consequences (No Kanye…even though that would’ve made an excellent popshot) and allowing me to provide the means for such. I dont consider myself a blogger, I’m just a being with an opinion that happens to be common amongst the underground overstanders & thinkers. So I write/post articles that I feel are relevant to current conditions surrounding my core demographic… Which is EVERYBODY!

I can be very cynical & sarcastic at times but its all in good fun (or not). So it shouldn’t be taken that seriously (read as: it should be taken VERY seriously) when I write about people you like. Whether it be your favorite artist, movie star, basketball players, ”cross dressing” movie director, or “alien looking” ex-television host, I don’t attack people who I feel don’t deserve it. Take your precious “Officer Bawse” aka Rick Ross for instance; I know Rick Ross is the hottest rapper in the game right now (which DOES NOT mean the best lyricist) so for his business acumen and time spent to get where he is today, I (more…)

Cocaine Probe Targets Rap Music Figures

by iSpit

The Drug Enforcement Administration probe that has ensnared a well-known rap music manager is focusing on the shipment of kilos of cocaine from Los Angeles to New York by a narcotics ring that stashed the drug in “road cases” delivered to recording studios, The Smoking Gun has learned.

Payment for the cocaine was sent back to the West Coast in vacuum-sealed packages that were coated with mustard, the pungent smell of which was intended to conceal from drug-sniffing dogs the scent of narcotics on the currency.

To date, the ongoing investigation–which is being overseen by prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn–has resulted in felony charges against about six defendants, several of whom are connected to the rap music industry.

Additionally, an arrest warrant has been issued for James Rosemond, the manager who represents the L.A. rapper The Game. The 46-year-old Rosemond, a convicted felon with a lengthy rap sheet, is pictured in the above mug shot.

In addition to representing The Game (real name: Jayceon Taylor), Rosemond’s Czar Entertainment web site lists Mike Tyson and singer Sean Kingston as clients. His “affiliated artist” roster–whatever that is–includes gangster rapper (more…)

Rick Ross v. Freeway Rick Ross – Who Ya Got?

by iSpit

By: Richard Patterson

Writing for the IP Brief is no easy task.  Everyday I’m hustlin’ to find an interesting topic to blog about.  Thankfully for me (and you), “Freeway” Rick Ross (“Freeway”) recently filed a new lawsuit against rapper William Leonard Roberts II (aka Rick Ross “The Boss” – not to be mistaken with a certain dude who plays with The E Street Band) in California state court after losing his federal court battle for trademark infringement against the MC last year (anyone confused?).  Freeway is notorious for his role in the Iran-contra affair, and for being one of the largest drug kingpins in United States history.  After spending nearly twenty years behind bars for drug trafficking, Freeway was released from prison in 2009 and took immediate action against unauthorized use of his name and likeness.  The Boss’s rise to power began in 2002 when he adopted the “Rick Ross” persona in songs and videos – most of which illustrate life as a drug dealer.

Freeway filed a lawsuit last year in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California where he alleged trademark infringement, unfair competition and misappropriation of name and likeness.  Freeway argued that his name had secondary meaning and should be protected because he “established his Rick Ross trademark and trade name by engaging in unlawful drug commerce in California from 1980 to 1995.”  The judge correctly dismissed the first two claims, explaining that the Lanham Act does not recognize unlawful use in commerce as a basis for secondary meaning.  The court, however, declined to assert supplemental jurisdiction over the state claim of misappropriation.  This is why Freeway is bringing his new claim now.
