Ten Reasons Why The Wu Tang Clan Are The Greatest Rap Group Of All Time

by iSpit

By Phillip

10. Grown-Man Rap
Hip-hop thrives on the energy of youth. All media eyes are on L.A.’s expansive Odd Future collective these days, but beyond the group’s surface schtick about raping and pillaging small villages, its movement is propelled by the same fresh-faced-and-rebellious attitude that, say, a 16-year-old LL Cool J was bringing to rap back in the days before even Tyler’s parents were pubescent. The flip side of this is that rap artists rarely grow old gracefully — even the high priest of the industry himself, Jay-Z, sought to knock nigh on a decade off his birth certificate during his thirtysomething-rap phase. In hip-hop, experience is rarely a selling point, let alone something to be proud of. But of late, the Wu’s grown-man rappers look like they’ve managed to find a way to come to terms with their mature years. GZA is reportedly filming a sitcom about a rapper going through a mid-life existential crisis, while Ghostface has settled into being a balding, grumpy middle-aged man who likes to interrupt shows with monologues about the virtues of the olden days; his last album’s highlight, “In Tha Park,” was based around him and the Roots’ Black Thought reminiscing about previous hip-hop eras. The Wu may be the first group to comfortably embrace the idea of being the finicky old men of rap.

9. Wu-Tang Is (Also) For The Ladies
Let us for a moment gloss over moments like Ghostface’s “Wildflower,” with its bitter venom about “remember when I long-dicked you and broke your ovary” and the time he “fucked (more…)

Afrika Bambaataa:”Hip-hop Has Been Hijacked By A Luciferian Conspiracy”

by iSpit

Note: Most of this is from AllHipHop so be sure to use your bullsh*t comb when reading this one…

Afrika Bambaataa, one of Hip-Hop’s founding fathers, believes that the genre of Hip-Hop music has been hijacked by a Luciferian conspiracy to poison the minds of its listeners.

Afrika Bambaataa stated his opinion on the state of Hip-Hop music during a recent interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, which will undoubtedly fuel conspiracy theorists’ recent claims that Hip-Hop is filled with Satanic imagery and devil worshippers.

“Hip-hop has been hijacked by a Luciferian conspiracy,” Afrika Bambaataa told the Chicago Sun-Times. “People have used hip-hop in a lot of ways that cause a lot of mind problems. They use the word wrongfully. They use it to mean a part instead of a whole. Like many of these [radio] stations say they’re hip-hop, they’re playing hip-hop. I go to these stations, and these so-called program directors don’t know jack crap about hip-hop culture. They know rap to a certain extent. But I question them. I say, ’Where’s your go-go, your hip-house, your electro-funk, your raga, your R&B and soul?’ (more…)

RZA Says ‘The Next Three Days’ Is About the ‘Power of Love’

by iSpit

RZA returns to the movie world with a gritty street role as a drug dealer in ‘The Next Three Days.’ The film, which hits theaters today (Nov. 19), stars Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks and Liam Neeson. Paul Haggis — director of ‘Crash’ amongst other favorites — mans the camera and handled screenwriting for the new picture, which is based on a 2007 French film entitled ‘Pour Elle.’ “I play a character named Moose,” explained RZA in an interview with The BoomBox. “The main character is played by Russell Crowe — a man who loves his wife, but she’s charged with murder and sent to jail. He doesn’t believe that she did it, but all the evidence points to the fact that she did. He won’t accept it. He goes crazy and tries to free here. When he does that, he has to go to the underground and comes to my character Moose. It becomes a very bad day for him.” RZA explained that the film is a unique and enjoyable experience because it’s about a man who is blinded by love to the extent that he doesn’t even care if his wife is guilty of the crime or not. According to the Wu-Tang Clan leader, it’s about the power of love more than anything else. “With this film, what makes it unique, is it’s not the person in jail that’s trying to breakout, it’s someone from the outside trying to break her out,” he said. “It’s usually money involved or something like that. This guy is doing it for love, man. He loves his wife, he believes in her and will not accept that she did this murder. The good thing about the film is that you don’t know if she did it or not. That doesn’t mean nothing to him, cause love conquers all, baby.”

Stop Biting: How Many Rappers Can Ruin A Good Thing One By One

by iSpit

Did you get the memo? Biting, once the most taboo of all Hip Hop offenses, is now allowed.

We’re not talking homages or tributes; there is wholesale thievery and blatant mimicry going on. The latest example is Hip Hop producers and their delegated days to leak new material to the Internets. Kanye West pioneered this savvy marketing ploy when he announced that he would be dropping new songs every Friday—dubbed G.O.O.D Fridays—up until the release of his new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Hey, if Kanye and his G.O.O.D Music companions drop a gang of new material to keep fans satiated until release day, everyone wins. Right?

Seeing the novelty and popularity of Mr. West’s scheme, the RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan decided to start dropping new tracks (well, new to fans since his releases have been older, unreleased songs) on Wednesdays. The Abbot dubbed his weekly drops “Wu-Wednesdays,” obviously. Okay, the RZA must have ridiculous beats in the stash—can we get those Nas joints from the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… sessions, please?—and he was working with Kanye anyway (and the sped up Soul samples was his ish first too); so this was all good, no pun intended.

The RZA – You Don’t Owe Me

by iSpit

#WuThursdays

Says RZA:

THIS IS A SONG TALKING ABOUT HOW PEOPLE TRY TO TELL WHAT TO DO AND WHAT TO BE… THE SONG CAN RELATE TO A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAN AND WOMAN OR CITIZENS AND AUTHORITY…OR JUST ANY CONFRONTATION SUCH AS A BOUNCER AT A CLUB WITH THE GUEST LIST… PEACE, RZA

Outlines ft. The RZA – Visions x 2 Left Shoes

by iSpit

For this week’s installment of #WuWednesdays, Prince Rakeem drops a feature he did for a group called Outlines.

Says him:

Message
“No man is a true believer unless he desireth for his brother that which he desireth for himself.” Muhammad

Song
This weeks song is entitled “Visions”. Its by a group called Outlines, featuring me. The song is about world peace thru us taking individual responsibility for our actions and us helping save to others once we have saved ourselves.

Being out here in China and seeing the growth of our culture in their world and seeing how their culture influenced my world led me to choose this song. We all so much on the same path as individuals only separated by language and custom and location. And the negative forces that strive to keep us apart by fabricating false images of each other. Well the RZA and Outlines have a vision for a better world.

The Outlines are a group out France whom I’m co producing. You will be hearing more from them. Peace!
